It’s something of an interesting paradox, as the days are getting short and cold, the colours are getting warm and gentle. Personally I like fall, because the tones of orange and red with lots of others in between are just awesome – and of course the days are getting shorter, which I don’t care so much about, but the nights are getting longer! And that means a whole lot less awkward going-to-bed-after-sunrise occasions. Though I can’t say they don’t happen anymore at all.. 🙂

And I don’t just mean the fact that I managed to push both of my mainly played characters to 90 by now and got them somewhat decently equipped to start with more serious things soon, but also quite literally:
Isn’t the Timeless Isle awesome? I think it is, especially for people like me who decided to change servers and start completely new right when it could get interesting with the last 90 hunter, so as the eternal slowpoke it’s great to have a faster way of getting good equip.
And then there’s just so much to do in general when hitting max level! All those new quests and dailies, the Black Prince, Proving Grounds, exploring everything on the Timeless Isle to get the shiny new gear and steamroll some heroic scenarios with guild members.. And of course picking a new character to level next!
I actually did want to play some League of Legends, Bioshock Infinite, Hitman, Skyrim and all those other games sitting there, waiting for me until I have some time to dive into them, but then I never get to it. Too bad that WoW just never ends.. at least not for a good amount of time yet, until things get a bit boring again until the next expansion. If it gets as good as Mists of Pandaria (and in my opinion it’s the best Add On they ever made) I’ll definitely spend money and a big amount of time with it again.
Guess I’ll only ever really stop playing when they finally shut the servers down.. though then they’ll keep that one realm still going, so all the old people have something to play because they knew it from their youth and don’t forget all about it when they try to learn new stuff that’s too confusing anyway. So in the end I might never quit after all.. 😛
And I didn’t really get one, that’s why it took me so long to get posting again! To be fair, I wasn’t at home for quite a long time, and that feeling of being on vacation doesn’t really help with being productive. And then I was rather sick for a good while once I got back home, so it’s not like I was just lazy all the time.
But now I’m feeling way better already.. and keep pushing the work on a blog post to ‘tomorrow’.. and then again the next day.. and never get anything done at all. It really isn’t so easy, getting back into a routine with something that is fun, but still work of some kind, not the same as just playing or browsing around and not having to think at all.
Now I did find some motivation somehow.. and who would have thought? It was a kick in the butt – only that I wasn’t the one receiving it, I was the one giving it!
I feel sorry for the poor guy.. being depressed and wanting to die, and then a random person comes up and kicks him all the way home! For anyone who’s wondering, he is the objective of the quest Finding Yi-Mo from Mei Barrelbottom!
Now, getting back into something that isn’t super-rewarding in itself (and I’m not saying that writing isn’t like that for anyone at all – it’s just always a bit of a chore for me, even though I like to do it) really can be pretty hard. And it’s not like nothing happened in the meantime, there was a lot I could have made a post about in the meantime.
But then again, writing the first post in a blog after a whole lot of time feels weirdly a lot more like writing the first awkward post that started everything back then, and maybe that’s one of the reasons it’s getting harder and harder to get back into something. I guess eventually a lot of people aren’t the kind of animal that is having an easy time getting off it’s butt and start doing something, and I’m definitely one of them. That’s why routines and habits are so important!
The only solution apparently is to keep the lazy butt hovering over the comfy armchair, instead of slumping down in it to never get up for doing anything again (or at least for a long time). But anyway, hereby I made the first step for being more active again, so hopefully I’ll keep up with it from now on!
Maybe I should just start to kick people more often..
Who would have thought that Inhabitants of the Nether could be so fabulous?! (It looks more like a rainbow in-game, the screenshot isn’t the best – I didn’t have the time to take other pictures, it was over so fast :()
The Demon isn’t really looking pretty by itself, the swirling lights are actually banning Archduke Calcinder for the Quest From Whence He Came from this realm with the help of precious stones that were obtained from the Twilight Hammer so he can’t return – simply killing him would only result in him getting revived. But it’s still something of an unusual view, almost sparkly. 🙂
Since there was only one faction left for our little guild to get the achievement ‘Dungeon Diplomat‘, it seemed like a good idea to set out and get exalted with the Thorium Brotherhood. For that reason I did some questing through the Searing Gorge, where I happened to stumble over one of the more odd quest chains in World or Warcraft – or rather, it stumbled over me! In form of a pacifistic (Wikipedia describes pacifism as the opposition to war and violence.. maybe it’s not the correct term for this one. His methods did seem to be a bit violent..) Ogre who demands me to stop killing anything and let him handle stuff to get me my quest items without having to murder ‘innocent’ beings.
I’m not so sure that it’s actually a great idea to let hordes of Glass Spiders live, firstly because they’re dangerous and aggressive and bite helpless chicken critters to death all the time (in a rather cruel way ._.), and then it doesn’t seem to help much for preserving life when you have to attack and weaken them first to then have a huge Ogre jump on them and ride them around until their venom (that needs to be collected for the quest) gets squeezed out of them.
Next time he appears to try and prevent the killing of Dark Iron Dwarves.. again more an act of humiliation and torture than actually saving anything. I’m pretty sure that the survival rate of having a huge mountain of meat that’s several times your size sitting on you wouldn’t look great at all. D:
How much pleasure this treatment means for the victims should be obvious, and some of the comments the Dwarves say before they lose consciousness point in the same direction:
Where… did… he… come from…
I can’t feel my legs…
Ugh! Why are you WET!?
Light… fading… dying? No, just sleeping…
Now I can imagine how it would be to have a moist (why is he wet? o_o) and smelly Ogre sitting on me until I ‘fall asleep’ (I’m still not so sure about this part! And surviving with a broken body doesn’t seem to be too much fun either), even though I’d rather have different thoughts on my mind.. So eventually these quests are less fun for me than they were supposed to be, unless there’s some more serious meaning behind it than I know of at this point. And I really do feel somewhat pitiful for those poor NPC’s that have to live through Lunk’s plans for protecting them. ._.
Now, this is something I originally started to put together to fit for the Revilgaz’s Cutlass I got some time ago, since I really want to have a matching and good-looking Set to wear together with it. In the end it turned out that there was an even better choice for a weapon though, so I replaced it and failed in my original intention – but am still pretty happy with the results. Who doesn’t like nice surprises?
But anyway, this is my Noble Duelist Set!
I know, gnomes aren’t exactly the stereotypes of either a noble or a duelist, but this is what I got and it looks pretty good on her. The theme probably fits better on a human for roleplay uses, but since I just want to look good sometimes and don’t necessarily pick my outfits role appropriate only (sitting around in the Auction House or Mailbox area doesn’t exactly fit in with good roleplaying behaviour anyway, so why not look fabulous while doing so, at least?).
Goldweave Tunic: Same model as the Elegant Tunic that’s for a lot of money on the Auction House regularly, but can be obtained by doing an easy Quest on the Hellfire Peninsula (available for Alliance and Horde). One of my favourites in the cloth chest armor department, together with the differently coloured look-alikes!
Yellow Martial Shirt: I think I might be starting to repeat myself a lot here.. the Martial Shirts are simply awesome for adding another layer in a fitting colour and making everything look more complete.
Gnomish Casting Boots: These pretty unique boots match perfectly to the chest, but that’s no wonder since they’re apparently a part of the recoloured mageweave regalia, so not really a surprise here. Another Quest reward, this time in the Blade’s Edge Mountains.
Sutarn’s Ring: I’m not all too happy with this belt because the colour doesn’t match 100%, but so far I couldn’t find anything that fits perfectly, so since I had this one already I’m keeping it like this. Can be replaced with something like the Astralaan Belt for example, or with anything that fits the yellow tones better if found. Otherwise, the best bet to find it is probably once again the Auction House – at least that’s where I got it from.
Astralaan Gloves & Pants: Same as for the Battlemage Outfit before, the Astralaan Stuff is just great for completing Sets because black and white are easy to match to pretty much anything and look good on their own.
Aurora Mantle: I believe the Aurora items are fairly common because they look good and match a lot of different stuff, so it shouldn’t be too hard to get some of it through the AH for anyone who is willing to spill some gold, or even get some drop luck while levelling a new character up. That’s where I get a surprising amount of good looking low-level items! And somebody who doesn’t need them should be able to sell them for a good amount of money.. Anyway, these work well with he white of the Astralaan items and isn’t as huge and overwhelming as most shoulder armor looks on gnomes, eventually there are some other great fitting ones for other races.
Jeweler’s Amber Monocle: I found these monocles in the AH and fell in love with them, so of course there was no way around buying one! Especially awesome because the colour fits greatly, once again. 😀 The only big downside of it is that it’s not working for transmog, but there are good alternatives, like the Chief Architects Monocle or Cassandra’s Grace.
Electrocutioner Leg: The colour of this Sword matches really well with the overall look, that’s why I went to Gnomeregan a few times and dumped Revilgaz’s Cutlass in favour of it in the end. Both still work pretty well in general though. The leg is probably easier to get anyway, because there’s just a little drop luck needed, while the other one only is available for finishing various quests.
Alternative Weapons: For Transmogrification it’s likely that other weapon types are needed, so some different ones I found fitting are the Spiritchaser Staff, Solstice Staff, or a Key to the Planes for Staves – as well as a Siphoning Dagger, Honed Stiletto, The Ziggler or Alcor’s Sunrazor together with an Arcane Star, Regal Star, Demon-Skull Orb, Dreamseeker Dandelion or an Inscribed Red Fan. Though for this one, the possibilities are pretty much endless, there are a lot of yellow coloured or fiery themed items that would match well. Even a Disciple’s Stein is yellow-ish.^^
And that’s about it! Nothing really special or rare, but it really does stand out for some reason when I’m idling around dealing with every day stuff in Azeroth. I’m not really sure why – maybe I’m completely wrong with the colours after all and everyone can clearly see that I’m an unfaishonable person! Oh, the Horror! D:
Either way, it’s an unusual look and not hard to obtain, and even though I’m not using it for roleplay purposes (so far), it surely did come in handy a while ago – at least I felt dressed properly while dealing with Stormwinds Royalty. 🙂
Between power levelling my characters, levelling the guild, possibly working on achievements for it/myself and then actually being around a person I can do stuff with (and I mean in real life here, I know that sounds crazy – people outside of the internet!) compared to being alone most of the time when I’m at home, there’s just not much room for writing anything at all really. And then, when questing the night away like right now, I’m getting these kinds of tasks.. good times. 😀
Who would have thought that gathering Rotten Arakkoa Eggs wasn’t the best idea ever?!
But well, a Night Elf must do what the Quest Giver demands.. and there I am now, puking around getting stunned repeatedly, trying to find an egg that might not break on the slightest touch. To then hand the precious delicacy over to a guy who pukes all over me after eating that disgusting thing and claiming it to be amazing. But I guess that’s to be expected from someone called “Tobias the Filth Gorger“…
I’ll never work with these people again once I’m done with the Shadow of the Betrayer achievement!
This is one of the great parts about starting to write a blog about a topic you know well – eventually you start to pay attention to details you have never noticed before. So recently I discovered that the ceiling of Scholomance actually is very detailed and looks awesome! And I don’t even know if it always looked that way or if they changed it together with the rest of the dungeon when they did the big purge and revamp. Who ever pays attention to the ceiling of a dungeon? Turns out that I never did..
Though that’s also a great thing in itself, apparently there are still new things for me to discover in World of Warcraft, and not only when new content gets added. Even if it’s only something small like this.. It reminds and makes me appreciate again just how detailed and amazing this game is.
Also, here’s an extra screenshot for everyone who isn’t so much interested in the virtual architecture of WoW (flames are great for everyone, right?):
Well, I made it through the whole week without playing, but on Saturday I finally added a new subscription and got some more gaming time. Seems like I’m a little addicted to WoW all over again, after all this time.. and that’s just from the fun of levelling a new character that I love, once more.
The only bad point about it at all is that I currently have to share a computer with someone else, so we have to take turns to play something or even just to browse internet stuff.. And the rather uncomfortable keyboard where nothing is how I’m used to it at all. Even important letters are missing!^^ Making a blog post is pretty weird, I’m completely not used to how everything functions, stuff works so differently than on my own computer.. that’s the reason why I’m not being very productive with my posts at all. o_o
Despite these just a little uncomfortable circumstances (typing really is hard if you have to look for the right keys all the time!) I finally made it to level 60 on my hunter over the weekend and am going to proceed swiftly towards 90, hopefully. The ability to fly really makes everything so much easier..
Oh well, at least I figured out most of my user names and passwords, so I guess I might do some more writing during the next week than over the past one. 😀
Especially this past week.. Being sick isn’t good for writing or being creative, not at all. I got a nasty cold with a very sore throat.. It makes thoughts slow and heavy, and of course doesn’t help with the motivation at all. Which leads to other RL things I should have done this week being neglected too.. Because I’m actually going to travel and visit someone in the UK on sunday and should have prepared everything beforehand. And now I’ll have to do lots of stuff tomorrow..^^
Oh well, at least feeling weak and unmotivated overall had the effect that I spend a lot of time in front of the computer, and a good part of that playing World of Warcraft. I wanted to reach level 50 with the little Hunter before my account ran out and come back to levelling her once I’m back home (so I’d save some money while I’m busy anyway and had more of the month to play afterwards), but then I didn’t have much time to play at all today, so the subscription ended earlier while I only made it to 46 with her.
Though then again, the new patch will be released very soon, and if I didn’t play at all the whole 28 days I stayed away from home I will completely miss it.. so I will probably just wait for the first week while I’ll be the most busy and then renew my subscription. After all there will be access to a computer with internet that even has WoW on it already.. I guess I should make use of that while I have free time.
Anyway! I did make some progress over the past few days:
Of course Teiranae is wearing the ugly levelling gear, but at least the cocktail crossbow from Dire Maul (I will have to put it together with a pretty dress at some point!^^) is kind of cute.. Too bad I didn’t really get to put a nice looking set together for her yet since I was focused on progress the whole time, but sooner or later that will come as well. And this time I don’t have to find everything in cloth either! Though that makes the whole process easier and more difficult at the same time..^^
And I found a name for the white cat companion that’s at my side since the beginning, that’s something I always struggle with, and chose a profession (though I guess I won’t include engineering into the RP at all.. Hunters have enough options open anyway, and it’s just a no go for a Night Elf).
But for now, my virtual friends will have a bit of vacation while I do the same.. 🙂
