Exciting new things are already getting started – I got Wildstar!

Yep, I felt like it was time to try out something new in the mmo world. WoW is somewhat old and, though still great and getting nice updates, still pretty much the same as it’s always been.

Guild Wars 2 is a ridiculously pretty game and I love the look and lore about it, but for some reason it never clicked properly with me. And the controls suck a whole lot, or maybe I’m too stupid to play it properly.. but good thing it’s free to play, or I don’t think I’d bother to log in there anymore.

And as much as I loved Skyrim and the Elder Scrolls universe in general, Elder Scrolls Online kind of seemed bad from the start when I tried it in beta, not sure why. But I never bothered paying for it afterwards, meh.

Either way! Even more reason to look into getting a new game eventually, and when I saw Wildstar being released I got thinking.. well, why the hell not?! It certainly looks different to those games I mentioned before, and it’s a completely different setting too, so even if it’s not WoW2, it should at least provide some nice change for once, right? And it’s supposed to have great housing..  I never played a game with really great housing, like, ever!

Though of course, the first great obstacle in getting started with a new online game is something everyone has to go through at some point.. the dreaded download! All I can say is that it took ages. No errors or bugs or anything, but it’s just so slooooow. Maybe it will get better when there aren’t as many people trying to do it at the same time, but yeah. Can’t say I got to see much of the world yet, since just getting the game on my computer already took most of yesterdays afternoon and evening!

The other reason why I didn’t get to see much of the world.. Well, I got stuck in the character creation for a good amount of time.  ._. The races are somewhat different from other stereotype fantasy stuff, some more and some less, but I was definitely entertained for a good while. There was a surprising amount of fun to be had already.

So now, lay eyes on my glorious creation, the evil Hamster with the terrifying name Todesknubbel! (Something like Deathknob I think.. Sounds way better in german. But still stupid. :P)

I don’t even know if I’m going to play him/it at all yet.. But it was worth making it just because it was hilarious. Don’t think I’ll delete him any time soon, even if it will just sit around on my account doing nothing at all.

But anyway, these weird-looking thingies are actually called Chua and apparently don’t have a gender. And they’re evil. Pretty much everything I know yet, and some stuff about the other races, factions and classes. Very little so far. The world has to wait, more power to the character creation screen! o_o

Screenshot Time: Pretty teeth..

A charming smile tells everything, right? That guy is surely not creepy or scary at all! So nice that I don’t even want to go near him.. but the quest says he’s friendly eventually. T_T

Screenshot Time: Elements

Not all of them sadly, because I missed taking some good screenshots from the other two parts of the chain when I was doing it the last time. But I thought these were still great! 🙂

Screenshot Time: Fall is beautiful

It’s something of an interesting paradox, as the days are getting short and cold, the colours are getting warm and gentle. Personally I like fall, because the tones of orange and red with lots of others in between are just awesome – and of course the days are getting shorter, which I don’t care so much about, but the nights are getting longer! And that means a whole lot less awkward going-to-bed-after-sunrise occasions. Though I can’t say they don’t happen anymore at all.. 🙂

Screenshot Time: Rainbow Demons!

Who would have thought that Inhabitants of the Nether could be so fabulous?! (It looks more like a rainbow in-game, the screenshot isn’t the best – I didn’t have the time to take other pictures, it was over so fast :()

The Demon isn’t really looking pretty by itself, the swirling lights are actually banning Archduke Calcinder for the Quest From Whence He Came from this realm with the help of precious stones that were obtained from the Twilight Hammer so he can’t return – simply killing him would only result in him getting revived. But it’s still something of an unusual view, almost sparkly. 🙂

Screenshot Time: Sometimes a great view is just right above you

This is one of the great parts about starting to write a blog about a topic you know well – eventually you start to pay attention to details you have never noticed before. So recently I discovered that the ceiling of Scholomance actually is very detailed and looks awesome! And I don’t even know if it always looked that way or if they changed it together with the rest of the dungeon when they did the big purge and revamp. Who ever pays attention to the ceiling of a dungeon? Turns out that I never did..

Though that’s also a great thing in itself, apparently there are still new things for me to discover in World of Warcraft, and not only when new content gets added. Even if it’s only something small like this.. It reminds and makes me appreciate again just how detailed and amazing this game is.

Also, here’s an extra screenshot for everyone who isn’t so much interested in the virtual architecture of WoW (flames are great for everyone, right?):

Screenshot Time: ALL the Shinies!

Whenever I see piles of cool things like this in a game I’m jealous – I want to have housing and hoard them and stuff my place up to the roof with shinies! I’m a big hoarder and would love to steal interesting things and keep them all for myself, simply to look at them.

That’s one reason why I actually like Skyrim – I put way too much effort into stealing a glass with a bee in it (there was someone in the room who kept seeing me in the wrong second) until I finally succeeded. And I’m still ridiculously happy about it every time I come back home! If only I could do the same kind of thing in WoW. ._.

Favourite Screenshot time!

Over the years of active playing, a lot of these pictures tend to gather – most pretty meh, some kind of okay and a few really nice ones. Since I don’t really get to show them to anyone and mostly just look through them by myself to remember old times or to look at the beautiful landscapes WoW has to offer, I thought I could as well pick my favourites and show one now and then. 🙂

This is one of my oldest characters, the shadow priest Tirisha I played on a different server back then, and who I saw countless runs of Stratholme, Scholomance and Dire Maul with. I mostly healed as a shadow to these times, because there was no dual spec. Dear lord, that was so long ago already. ._.
